Background:The protein encoded by this gene is a G protein-coupled receptor which activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. Its ligand, endothelin, consists of a family of three potent vasoactive peptides: ET1, ET2, and ET3. Studies suggest that the multigenic disorder, Hirschsprung disease type 2, is due to mutations in the endothelin receptor type B gene. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq].

Overlay histogram showing SP2/0 cells stained with bs-4198R-PE (red line). The cells were fixed with 1%paraformaldehyde (10 min) and then permeabilized with 1x PBS /0.2%TritonX-100 for 5 min. The cells were then incubated in 1x PBS / 1%BSA to block non-specific protein-protein interactions. The cells were then incubated with the antibody (bs-4198R-PE, 2ug/1x106 cells) for 30 min at 22-25°C. Isotype control antibody (black line) was rabbit IgG (2ug/1x106 cells) used under the same conditions. Acquisition of >5,000 events was performed.
