Background:ZNF136 is a transcriptional regulator belonging to the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. It is a ubiquitously expressed protein, localizes to the nucleus and contains 14 C2H2-type zinc fingers and 1 KRAB A-domain. Alone, ZNF136 functions as a weak repressor; however, when fused with a heterologous KRAB B-domain containing protein, such as ZNF10, ZNF136 functions as a potent repressor.
